The first day of fall is officially here. Cue cheers, orchard trips and endless hot apple cider. But let's not forget one of the best parts about fall, fashion. If you are Midwest dweller, fall fashion is everything. Chilly weather and strategic layering means there are plenty of ways to pile on the style. Here's what to look for...
Colors: Rose quartz is the "it" color of the season, but plenty of your favorites will be back. Blues, blues and more blues can stand alone or mix with rich shades of green, burgundy, maroon and scarlet.
Texture, Pattern & Everything Lace: Don't be shy. Personality and bold statements are in this season. Ruffles. Fringe. Velvet. Stripes. Cold shoulders. Vegan suede or leather trim. Buffalo checks. Denim done in every way imaginable. And lace gone sugary sweet or tough as nails. Pick the statement that speaks to you and make it your own.
Tops: Is there anything quite so comforting in fashion as a cozy sweater? We think not, and this season's sweater comes in every variety. Cozy cables, relaxed silhouettes and the ever-so-comforting turtle neck are back. Classic button front shirts and blouses go couture chic with elongated length, uneven hem, bows and voluminous sleeves.
Bottoms: Gasp! The skinny jean has company, the wide leg pant. It is an essential silhouette for this fall: wide leg culottes, pleated wide legs, cropped flares, high-waisted bell bottoms and more. There is a style for every body type in this ultra-flattering and comfortable look. But never fear the skinny jean is still on trend and well-stocked at our boutiques.
Dresses: If you aren't of fan of jeans and pants, don't worry dresses will be sticking around as the temperature drops. This fall's dresses are moodier, sexier and more beautiful than before. Think vintage-inspired fall florals, knit dressing, 70s details, lace, brocade and romantic elements. And if you love a good pant, there will be no shortage of body suits to choose from.
Top It All Off: Ah the coat, the pinnacle of the Midwesterners wardrobe for half the year. Make a piece that you wear everyday count with chic style and warmth. Ponchos, capes and cocoon jackets are on trend. And furs are being designed in ways we never imagined. Every color, intricate patchwork, ombre and color blocking, you name it and there is fur for it.
